Meet the designers

Behind every single design in our collection is a beautiful and creative mind. Bolia collaborates with more than 60 talented designers. From budding, bold talents to established design studios and world-famous celebrities. Whatever part of the world they live and breathe in, they all share the same passion for Scandinavian design, natural materials and sustainable creations. It’s also a pleasure for us to pay tribute to the new generation of designers at our annual Bolia Design Awards. This is where we give you the opportunity to become part of our international design collective, so that together we can write the next chapter of New Scandinavian Design.

Two annual collections

Working together as a team, we create an annual spring collection and an autumn collection. Both are rooted in the Scandinavian design tradition and based on our beautiful, changing nature – the materials, colours, textures, emotions and harmony.

Every collection starts with a creative brief for our designers, who then turn our design dreams into inspiring sketches, product ideas and prototypes. And most important of all is the sustainable mindset behind each design in terms of material choice, construction, component design, durability and carbon footprint.

The design suggestions for the collection are presented, the best ideas are selected and creation of the physical product begins. An inspiring process that is done in close collaboration with the designer and the selected manufacturer. The phase from initial thought to final design takes around 18 months. 18 months, when we look forward to presenting a fabulous new collection.

Glismand & Rüdiger, Denmark

The renowned design duo Glismand & Rüdiger come from Denmark – an origin that is clearly expressed in their design language. For them, Scandinavian design is not a label, but a commitment in their work and a concept they like to interpret in new and modern ways. Inspired by Scandinavian nature and traditional materials, they design furniture that is based on simplicity, excellent craftsmanship and honest materials. “We have a shared passion for Scandinavian design and natural materials. Sustainability is at the core of all our new designs. Right from the initial sketch to the final design, because the most important thing for us is to create beautiful designs that can survive different trends and generations.”

Studio Nooi, Italy

Studio Nooi was founded by Giulia Pesce and Ruggero Bastita in Torino, Italy. Giulia and Ruggero built their approach to design while studying and working as designers in Italy and Denmark. The name Nooi stems from the Italian word “noi” meaning “us” - and the idea is that design is never an individual action, but rather a collaborative process involving designers, companies, users, craftsmen and technicians. Their design is therefore always born from a collaboration between people, where the designers are closely involved in all phases of the creative process.
